STP-Parts – Cores for a better life

Guide

Packaging and shipping used parts

Transport damage is the most common avoidable reason for rejection. A broken flange or a leaking reservoir turns a core into scrap. Here is how to avoid it.

Stacked pallets with barcodes

Before packing

  1. Drain fluids: oil from turbochargers and power steering pumps, brake fluid from calipers, hydraulic oil from steering gears.

  2. Seal the ports: plugs, caps or firm tape. Open oil passages draw in dirt and moisture.

  3. Protect cables and connectors: do not cut off connectors, tape loose cables to the housing.

  4. Check the type plate: legible, not painted over, not ground off.

  5. Do not dismantle: actuator, regulator, solenoid and control unit stay fitted.

Pack type-sorted

One product group per mesh box or pallet. Starters with starters, turbochargers with turbochargers. Mixed goods cost time at goods receipt and lead more easily to identification errors. If type-sorted packing is not possible, at least separate the parts with layer dividers.

Securing the pallet

  • Parts centred on the pallet, no overhang
  • Stretch film at least three times around goods and pallet
  • Straps or strapping band for heavy parts
  • Delivery note in a document pouch on the outside
  • Protect mesh boxes from rain with a lid or film

Frequently asked questions

Do you provide packaging material?

For regular volumes we provide mesh boxes or cartons. Talk to us.

Do I need to consider dangerous goods rules?

Drained units are not dangerous goods. Make sure that no residual oil or brake fluid can leak.

What happens in case of transport damage?

For collection by our carrier, we bear the risk from handover. For your own shipping, it lies with the sender, which is why careful packaging pays off.
