Alternators as cores

Alternators are the classic reman part: high material value, standardised design, large volumes. We buy used generators, check housing and completeness and deliver them type-sorted to remanufacturers in Europe and worldwide.

Alternator with belt drive in the engine bay

Why this part is valuable as a core

Housing, rotor and stator are usually reusable after testing. Regulator, rectifier, bearings and slip rings are replaced. The reman part reaches full charging output.

Modern alternators with overrunning alternator pulley (OAP/OAD) and LIN regulator are expensive to manufacture new. Their core value is correspondingly high.

What we buy

  • Alternators for car petrol and diesel engines, 70 to 250 A
  • Generators with overrunning alternator pulley
  • Generators with LIN/BSS regulator
  • Alternators for vans, trucks and buses (12 V and 24 V)
  • Water-cooled generators on request

Typical failure causes that make a core valuable

  • Defective regulator, charging voltage too high or too low
  • Burnt-out rectifier
  • Bearing noise, worn bearings
  • Worn slip rings or carbon brushes
  • Defective overrunning alternator pulley

Acceptance criteria

  • Housing without breakage, mounting lugs intact
  • Pulley may be missing, shaft not bent
  • Regulator and connector present
  • No burn marks on the windings
  • Type plate or manufacturer number legible

Questions about this part

Do you buy alternators with bearing noise or no charging output?

Yes. Defective regulators, rectifiers and bearings are the normal reman cases.

What about a torn-off pulley?

Missing pulleys are unproblematic. A bent shaft, however, leads to rejection.

Do you take mixed lots?

Yes. We take care of identification and sorting, for large quantities also on site by arrangement.

Have this part to sell, or need it as a core?
