Why this part is valuable as a core
Steering gears are mechanically complex and expensive to manufacture new. Housing, rack and pinion are usually reusable after cleaning and measurement; seals, bearings and boots are replaced.
With EPS systems the control unit is part of the package. Only a complete core with intact electronics allows economic remanufacturing.
What we buy
- Hydraulic rack-and-pinion steering gears (cars, vans)
- Electro-hydraulic power steering gears
- Electromechanical EPS steering gears (pinion and rack-parallel EPS); for column EPS the steering column unit with control unit
- Steering gears with and without control unit, depending on the system
- Complete steering units from accident and end-of-life vehicles
Typical failure causes that make a core valuable
- Steering play due to wear on rack and pinion
- Oil loss at seals and boots
- Internal leakage, steering becomes heavy
- Fault in control unit or torque sensor on EPS
Acceptance criteria
- Rack not bent, housing without cracks or weld spots
- Control unit and connector present on EPS, cables not cut
- Ports capped or undamaged, no torn lines
- Type plate or OE number legible
- Tie rods may be missing, boots may be defective
Questions about this part
Do you also buy steering gears with play or oil leaks?
Yes. Steering play, leaking seals and oil loss are typical reman cases. What matters is an intact housing and an unbent rack.
Do you accept EPS steering gears without control unit?
In individual cases, at a lower value. For most remanufacturers the control unit is part of the core.
How many units do you take?
From single parts to pallets. For regular volumes we agree fixed collection cycles.
