STP-Parts – Cores for a better life

Cores · Recirculating-ball steering

Steering boxes as cores

Steering boxes are the steering gears of the heavy class: hydraulic recirculating-ball steering in trucks, buses, off-road vehicles and older vans. They are robust, heavy and expensive to manufacture new. Their reman value is therefore high and demand for cores is stable.

Why this part is valuable as a core

Housing, input shaft and ball nut are usually reusable after cleaning and inspection. Seals, bearings and, if necessary, the pitman arm are replaced.

Commercial vehicles reach high mileages and steering boxes are replaced accordingly often. Remanufacturers need a reliable core supply in many variants.
