Why this part is valuable as a core
Compressor and turbine housings are usually reusable after cleaning and inspection. The core assembly (shaft, bearings, seals) is renewed and rebalanced, the VNT mechanism cleaned and adjusted.
With the trend towards smaller, turbocharged engines, the number of turbochargers in the vehicle fleet has risen sharply. Core demand grows with it.
What we buy
- Turbochargers with fixed geometry (wastegate)
- VNT/VGT turbochargers with electric or pneumatic actuator
- Bi-turbo and sequential charging (as a set or single)
- Turbochargers for trucks and buses (Holset, Garrett, BorgWarner)
- Electrically assisted turbochargers on request
Typical failure causes that make a core valuable
- Shaft play due to worn bearings, oil loss
- Compressor wheel damaged by foreign objects
- Sticking or coked VNT mechanism
- Defective electric or pneumatic actuator
- Leaking wastegate
Acceptance criteria
- Compressor and turbine housings without cracks or chipping
- Shaft turns, compressor wheel may be damaged
- VNT actuator fitted, connector undamaged
- Not disassembled, core assembly in the housing
- Manufacturer type plate with part number legible
Questions about this part
Do you buy turbochargers with shaft play or a damaged compressor wheel?
Yes. Both are normal reman cases as long as the housings are undamaged.
What about VNT turbochargers with a defective actuator?
The actuator must be fitted but may be defective. It is tested or replaced during remanufacturing.
How much do you pay for a turbocharger core?
That depends on part number, condition and quantity. Send us a photo of the type plate and the quantity and we will get back to you with an offer.
