Reading the ZF part number
ZF part numbers have ten digits in three blocks, for example 7852 955 108. The first block identifies the product family (7852 rack-and-pinion steering, 8095 and 8098 steering boxes of the Servocom series, 7691 and 7692 pumps), the following blocks the variant. The type plate usually also carries the vehicle manufacturer's OE number. TRW steering gears carry numbers with a letter prefix (e.g. JRP) and the OE number.
Bosch Automotive Steering
The former ZF Lenksysteme GmbH (joint venture of ZF and Bosch) has belonged fully to Bosch since 2015 and is called Bosch Automotive Steering. We treat steering gears with ZF Lenksysteme marking from that period like ZF parts. See also Bosch.
